Make a Donation

The financial contributions from our sponsors and donors are essential to our ability to award the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour each year.  Without donations, the award will die.  If you are keenly supportive of Canadian literature, then please help to ensure that the medal continues to be awarded for many years in the future by making a donation, on either a one-time or monthly basis.

Any and all donations are gratefully received.  We will provide tax receipts for donations of $25 or more.

This facility accepts one-time or regular donations by credit or debit card.  If you wish to make a donation by cheque instead, you should make it payable to Stephen Leacock Associates, indicate on the cheque whether you want the money to go towards the General Operating Fund or the Endowment Fund, and mail it to: Stephen Leacock Associates, PO Box 854, Orillia ON, L3V 6K8, Canada.

We are incorporated as a Canadian charity, registration number 11917 2922 RR0001.

Please enter donor email address and then click on the "Submit" button.

General Operating Funds

These funds are needed to cover the expenses associated with administering the medal award process.  They include:

Stephen Leacock Associates Endowment Fund

In an effort to continue the award for many years to come, the board of the Associates is planning on expanding and diversifying its sponsorship sources to provide improved continuity over the years.  To this end it has initiated an endowment fund with the Community Foundation of Orillia and Area (CFOA) with the aim of making the award self-sustaining in the long term. The endowment fund will generate annual income that will bolster our general operating funds.
We encourage those people interested in supporting the Leacock Medal to consider monthly donations and/or bequests to help us in achieving our aims.

Why an $88 option for donation amounts?

If you wish to donate $1,000 in total per year, an $88 monthly donation translates to an annual donation on your part of  $1,056.  The extra $56 covers the transaction costs involved in processing your card payments, while giving us a net donation of just over $1,000.  You will, however, receive an income tax receipt for the full amount.
