There were 64 entries for the 2012 Leacock Memorial Medal for humour writing. The shortlist announcement of the top five entries was made on Monday, April 2 via print media and social media outlets.
The winner was announced at the Leacock Luncheon on April 26. The 2012 Leacock Medal goes to Patrick deWitt for The Sisters Brothers. The medal and the accompanying $15,000 cash prize will be awarded on June 9 at the annual gala dinner at Geneva Conference Centre near Orillia, Ontario.
